Clarify what the dollar sign means
Use MXN for Mexican peso expenses. A dollar sign by itself is not enough information for a cross-border comparison. Ask whether the amount is in Mexican pesos or US dollars before accepting a price or recording it in your budget.

Record the cash amount in MXN and the operator fee separately. Include your bank’s withdrawal charges and check any conversion offer. For repeated withdrawals, compare the same total amount of pesos; a smaller individual withdrawal is not necessarily cheaper overall.
Identify the banknote family
Banco de México’s current manufacturing guide includes the G family. Banknotes can differ in material and design; compare the exact issue using the issuer’s illustrations. The denomination alone does not identify all its security features.

Before adding daily meals or transfers, check whether your accommodation package already includes them. Put separately paid activities and intercity transport in the appropriate category. Keep a cash allowance for confirmed cash expenses, rather than withdrawing the entire trip budget.

No. Confirm the currency. Use MXN for Mexican pesos and USD for US dollars.
Should the whole travel budget be cash?
Separate confirmed cash expenses from card purchases and prepaid bookings. Carrying the whole budget as cash is not required by the planner.
